9 Days to go... (10/2)

9 Days To Go

Date: Thursday, October 2, 2014
Location: Molenasica,Spain
Distance: 21km
Miles To Santiago: 120

Can you believe it. We can't either. So happy! Today was a really tough walk. It was rocky and the rocks were so jagged and of course uphill and downhill. Downhill is really worse with this kind of terrain.

Today was supposed to be a 30km day. When we arrived in El Esco, Lee's knees were bothering him. He made a decision to end our walk and stay there. But... We have been sending Lee's pack forward and he is carrying my backpack. Much lighter. His backpack was in Molenscia, where we were supposed to end our hike. So we took a taxi to retrieve Lee's backpack. Our plan was to start our walk in El Esco tomorrow, not Molenscia.

When we got in our taxi, there was another couple in the taxi. They were a husband and wife team from Houston. A&M grads. She is in a wheelchair and he has been pushing her from Lourdes, France. They were headed to a larger town to repair her brakes on her wheelchair.

When we were sharing Camino stories, Lee told him his plan, he said the Camino Rule is to always go forward... Never go back. Think this helped Lee make up his mind to stay in Molenasica. When we arrived at our albergue we told them goodbye and gave them our blessing for a safe Camino.

So here we are and will stay in Molenasica. Beautiful city, beautiful albergue, but a little expensive.

Here are some of the pics we took along the way. Enjoy!

Hippie albergue.

Check out their pet goat.

Mountain view. We were surrounded by mountains on both sides.

Lucky cows. Look at their daily picturesque background.

This was something on the trail. Not sure their purpose?

See what I mean?

We turned a corner and ... Wa la... Fresh squeezed orange juice.

Food for donation on the trail.
